Many of us say words, without much thought, which may bring so much joy or so much harm. Islam takes peoples' emotions, bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood very seriously. Allah breaks down in one verse in surat alhujurat what not to do to others. Allah says:

O believers! Do not let some ˹men˺ ridicule others, they may be better than them, nor let ˹some˺ women ridicule other women, they may be better than them. Do not defame one another, nor call each other by offensive nicknames. How evil it is to act rebelliously after having faith! And whoever does not repent, it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers. 49:11 (Translation by Dr. Mustafa Khattab)

Our target should be more than just avoiding harm to others. Rather, it should be how to bring benefit to others for the sake of Allah.
