TheNational Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Pittsylvania County on Friday afternoon.

Officials say that the tornado touched down in the Dry Fork area around 2:45 p.m., uprooting trees, ripping down power lines, and severely damagingover a dozen homes.
