Whenever Johnny Depp signs up for a film, there’s a strong chance he’s signing up to find himself in very tricky and sometimes downright dangerous situations. The actor doesn’t always do his own stunts, but when he does, they still carry some pretty serious risk.
Depp has done his fair share of car stunts - which included being hit by one over and over again! That said - it was as intimidating as working with a horse co-star, who, in a stunt gone wrong, wound up doing some serious damage to the actor’s body.
Pirates of the Caribbean was a string of films involving risky situations - sword fighting anyone? Besides that, there were environmental dangers and perhaps most surprisingly of all, a safety strap that did WAY more damage than good. It wasn’t just Pirates when the environment was a concern though. One film saw Depp interacting with water so contaminated, he needed to be on a bunch of antibiotics before filming could begin!
The struggles with filming scenes involving a lot of water didn’t end there though. Filming for the Fantastic Beasts franchise saw Depp getting pelted pretty hard with a waterfall of water on set - but he took it like a champ.
Even way back in the early days of his career, Depp was pushing boundaries and testing his limits - and he went a bit too far with it when one of his costumes caused him to pass out in the middle of filming! Never underestimate the powerful heat-inducing combination of sun and leather. Despite all the odds, Depp came out of these films pretty unscathed!
