In 1958, Hollywood dedicated 1500 marble and brass stars creating another landmark for tourists to visit - the Walk of Fame. In star-studded ceremonies, they have been adding to it ever since. As honorary Mayor of Hollywood Johnny Grant likes to point out, the Walk of Fame is the only award that celebrities can share with their fans. Movie buffs descend by the millions each year to stroll the streets of Hollywood in search of the stars their heroes. Today, through the “Adopt-A-Star” program, a dedicated group of locals gathers once a month to polish their idols’ stars and brighten Hollywood’ tarnished image. 5:05
