POST SHOW REVIEW:
Last night, Dead & Company continued their final tour with a stop at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. The band, comprised of Bob Weir, John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti, Mickey Hart, Oteil Burbridge, and Jay Lane, delivered a spectacular performance lush with classics and favorites, leaving fans with a sense of appreciation and awe.

The first set kicked off with a soulful rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Good Times,” setting a vibrant and energetic tone for the evening. The crowd then erupted as the band transitioned into the lively “Hell in a Bucket.” Keeping the momentum going, Dead & Company paid homage to the blues with a cover of Cannon’s Jug Stompers’ “Big Railroad Blues,” captivating the audience with their impeccable musicianship.

Next came a combination of “Lost Sailor” and “Saint of Circumstance,” adding to an already magical atmosphere within the venue. The crowd swayed and sang along as the band gracefully moved into “Ship of Fools.” They rounded out the frame with the timeless “Brown-Eyed Women,” which was accompanied by the collective voices of the audience, before they concluded the first set with a vibrant performance, “The Music Never Stopped,” leaving fans eagerly awaiting the second half of the show.

Set two commenced with the electrifying “Jack Straw,” captivating the audience with its infectious energy and lyrics. The band then locked into a groove, seamlessly transitioning from Truckin'” into the heartfelt “He’s Gone,” allowing fans to reminisce and reflect. The jam melded into the enchanting melodies of Bob Weir’s “Playing in the Band” and soared even higher as “Uncle John’s Band,” as fans swayed and sang in unison, embracing the communal spirit of the Grateful Dead’s music. Hart and Lane then took center stage for an awe-inspiring percussion segment, followed by a “Space” exploration. The audience was taken on an auditory adventure, mesmerized by the band’s improvisational skills and cosmic soundscapes.

After returning to defined ground, Dead & Company launched into an invigorating rendition of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower” before circling back to a reprise of “Playing in the Band” and then the poignant “Standing on the Moon.” For the grand finale, Dead & Company unleashed a rousing performance of “Not Fade Away,” paying tribute to The Crickets’ classic hit. The audience erupted into a sea of dancing and singing, fully immersed in the euphoria of the moment.
After a brief break, the band returned to the stage for an encore that was nothing short of magical – the iconic “Touch of Grey” resonated through the venue, uniting fans in celebration of the enduring spirit of the Grateful Dead.
