The kids hadn't been to the ski fields before, as we have missed a couple of winters while travelling, and they would have been too hard to handle on skis when they were little - so we decided to hit the Ben Lomond slopes! The ski season is pretty patchy in Tassie - which is a bit of a surprise considering our proximity to Antarctica - but we got lucky and found a perfectly sunny and calm day, with enough snow for a beginner. We dragged the caravan to the low cost camp at Simmonds Plains Raceway, and drove to the mountain the next morning. The kids absolutely killed it - we were so proud of them! No fear, gave it a crack, and loved it!
