If you need the space of a minivan, but don’t want to look like a soccer mom, or a man who’s lost all self-esteem, this is the vehicle for you! This is the first generation Honda Pilot and today, I borrowed this car here in Allentown, PA to show you how cool, spacious, and dependable these SUVs are. After that, I will show you some of my favorite features, take it for a drive and give you some driving impressions, and in the end I will point out some of the things you should LOOK for if you’re planning on buying one.

The first generation Honda Pilot debuted with a bang in 2002, and continues to win the hearts of suburban families with its reliability, spaciousness, and impressive performance. With third row seating and its strong V6 engine, this vehicle offers a well-rounded package for families looking for an alternative to the minivan, or simply need a bit more off-road capability.

The 03 to 04 Honda Pilot came equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 240 horsepower and 242 lb-ft of torque, which Honda quickly upgraded to 255 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque the following year. Then in 2006 power output was decreased to 244 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque due to the updated SAE net power standards.

2003 -2004: 3.5L V6 | 240hp and 242 ft-lb (328Nm)
2005 - 2006: 3.5L V6 | 255hp and 250 ft-lb (338Nm)
2006 and on: 3.5L V6 | 244hp and 240 ft-lb (325Nm)

Whether you're navigating busy city streets or cruising on the highway, the Pilot's responsive handling and comfortable ride quality make it a breeze to drive. Additionally, the all-wheel drive system enhances traction and stability, making it capable of tackling various terrains and weather conditions.

Step inside the Honda Pilot, and you'll find a well-designed and functional interior. With three rows of seating, this SUV accommodates up to eight passengers, making it ideal for larger families or those who frequently carpool. The seats are supportive and comfortable, ensuring a pleasant ride even on long trips. The second and third-row seats can be easily folded to create a flat cargo floor, offering an impressive amount of storage space for luggage, groceries, or outdoor gear.

With its impressive safety rating, very good fuel economy, and amazing reliability track record, it’s no wonder this SUV continues to be a hit!
