Maggie Peyton wants to become a NASCAR driver, but her overprotective father, Ray Peyton, doesn't want to. Ray, who was a pilot, wants Maggie to get a job as a TV sports announcer because it's more lucrative and leaves the track to her brother. When Ray takes Maggie to a junkyard to pick out a car, she has no idea that the little Volkswagen called Herbie she takes home will change her life.
