If you have a wood floor register cover that can be removed, you can refinish it to make it look new again. We had a maple register cover that was looking pretty beat up after 18 years. I know more now than when I put a clear coat on it the last time so I removed it, sanded it down, and clear coated it with Minwax Polycrylic. I like the protective finish and it is easy to clean up with water. This is a project most DIYers can take on.
