ABOUT
In this video, we’re going to practice how to conjugate the Russian verb to be in the Past tense with the help of my unique Russian verb drills. I’m talking about audio verb drills. They have proven to be the #1 tool for learning how to conjugate verbs in Russian without relying on rote memorization. This lesson is super practical, and after watching it you’ll finally have learned how to conjugate the Russian verb to be and its forms will stick in your mind forever.

To be is the most common verb in the Russian language. Like in many other languages, the Russian verb to be is irregular. So, it has many different forms that you need to know by heart because you’ll see them all the time and you’ll have to use all these different forms all the time when you speak Russian.

Luckily for you, there is only one form for the Russian verb to be in the Present tense - есть. So we’re not going to talk about it in this video. Instead, we’ll be learning how to conjugate to be in the Past tense. And there will be a separate video for the verb to be in the Future tense.

Like I said at the beginning of the video, we’ll be using my unique system of audio verb drills. If you think that verb drills are boring, you’ve probably never tried audio verb drills before. Not only are they fun but they are super practical. Their main benefit is that you’ll be drilling orally and therefore, learning verb forms with the right stress and right pronunciation. Also, audio drills are super handy because you can download them, upload them to your mobile phone and practice on the go. I have many downloadable audio verb drills for other Russian verbs at https://www.russianverbdrills.com/
