Disney/Pixar’s “Cars” franchise is a raging success! With multiple sequels and spinoffs like “Cars On The Road,” we can’t help but be curious about what kind of talent is behind bringing our favorite cars to life. Naturally, we’ve got Owen Wilson behind our favorite protagonist, Lightning McQueen. The role of Lightning McQueen was actually Own Wilson’s very first voice credit in an animated film. It makes sense that he would continue on down the path of animation booking roles in films like “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Free Bird.” We also have the fabulous Kerry Washington on the list, which could be a surprise for her fans considering her usual dramatic roles in shows like “Scandal” and films like “Django Unchained,” but she’s actually a huge fan of Disney/Pixar and the “Cars” franchise. She also loves the fact that she can finally show her kids a project that she’s been in. Did you know the racecar driver Lewis Hamilton got to be the voice of himself in “Cars 2?” Something a little less obvious he came back for was his role as Cruz’s electronic personal assistant, Hamilton, in “Cars 3.” Lewis Hamilton isn’t the only racecar star in the film, either. They based the character Junior “Midnight” Moon off of the legendary NASCAR driver Junior Johnson. Even his character’s car was based on his old ‘39 Ford! Junior Johnson won over fifty NASCAR races before his retirement in 1966. We’ve got a lot more interesting names to talk about, so stick around until the end of the video!
