Swapan Dasgupta is a senior Indian journalist and politician. He is one of foremost Conservative writers, writing columns for leading English dailies espousing Indian nationalism. He is a former member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2015, Dasgupta was conferred with the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to literature and education. He fought the 2021 West Bengal assembly election on BJP ticket from Tarakeshwar.
