In 1942 the Swedish Armed Forces ordered the development of an armoured four-wheel drive truck for infantry transport. Volvo and Scania were to design it, but using the same armoured hull developed by Landsverk. Scania used their heavy-duty truck chassis F-11 and they were named SKP (Scania Kaross Pansar)
They became known as ”KP trucks”. In the early 1950s the vehicles were armed by a twin 8 mm anti-aircraft machinegun m/36. During peace-keeping operations in the Congo 1960-64 and on Cyprus 1964-78, KP trucks were used by Swedish units. The UN also bought 15 vehicles for use by other UN forces in the Congo. This vehicle is a former Cyprus veteran.
