I am a martial artist, I have been practicing Karate for almost eight years now. Studying the art of USA Goju. There are other styles of martial arts that I have been practicing in the last year or two to go with the style that I have. Shotokan which is also based out of Okinawa and Ryu which is the last known karate style that came out to Okinawa that is more traditional.

Tai-chi I believe is more slow. Where there is more specifics as to what the actions are but every style has some part where it’s very relaxing, sometimes slow, sometimes fast. I have participated in competitions all the years of my practice. This past year I’ve practiced, or competed in three different circuits. This last one I’ve qualified for the AOK (Amateur Organization of Karate) State and there I’ve placed third in traditional forms an opens form. I didn’t do any of the sparing but it’s always good to go out and learn and compete with other martial artists.

2016 when I got my black belt I did win first place in the sparing. That was one of my first times coming out into that division and being able to attain that was a good goal. Some of the standout moments I have are just being able to experience teaching my students that when they finally pick up that concept that you are trying to present to them. This experience with martial art has definitely helped me. My confidence is better. I am very secure in what I am doing. It helps in the workplace and personally. I practice martial arts more now for some of the exercise but some of the spiritual mind/relaxation.
