Severe Thunderstorms hit NYC Metro Area on the 4th of July with Torrential Rainfall and Flooding, Lightning, Thunder, and Gusty Winds at 12pm. Current walk takes place in South Brooklyn - Dyker Beach Park - Dyker Heights - Bensonhurst.

A line of severe storms developed along a line from North East to South West, extending from upstate NY to New Jersey, before crossing on a diagonal path through the NYC Metro area. A severe storm warning was issued for most of the area during this period. Observed was frequent lightning and thunder, some gusty down bursts of wind, and very heavy rain. The most potent characteristic of these storms was the torrential downpours that caused Flash Flooding in many parts of the area. A Flash Flood warning had been issued along with the Thunderstorm Warning.

The walk will start out with views of the storms shelf cloud, quickly followed by the arrival of the storm, along with very heavy rain at times. Lightning and thunder will be observed. There will be instances on the walk where a break of rain sets in, but doesn't last long, as round after round of heavy rain keeps coming through in waves. At times there is some gusty winds, but nothing too damaging. Lightning was occasional and hard to see due to the thick nature of the storm clouds overhead. Thunder will be heard throughout the entire video.

Another characteristic of this storm was the density. This was a very dense storm, that basically turned daytime noon, into evening night. There was also some issues with fogging of the lens during the walk due to the amount of moisture in the air, and the amount of rain coming down. I also stopped a few times to try and observe any lightning strikes in the area.
