On Sunday 21st April 2024, Steam Incorporated in a joint venture with KiwiRail ran the Spiral Spectacular Excursion from Paekakariki to Raurimu and return, the Train was hauled by DA 1410 between Paekakariki and Palmerston North and hauled by EF 30192 on the Palmerston North to Raurimu legs of the journey. We start by seeing Train 240 in Hunterville followed by Northern Explorer Service 200 at Rata before chasing the train from Rata to Raurimu on the first trip and then we follow the train as far south as Mataroa on the return trip. Enjoy!
