As a teenager I was triggered towards the classic guitar by the
composition of Mason Williams: Classical Gas. It was a number
1 hit in the U.S.A. back in 1968. Only this year I found a video on
YouTube in which Mason Williams himself explains the way he
got the guitar that was labelled "Cordova" but came from the
Oscar Teller Lutherie. I was just searching for more information
around this guitar after I was able to buy a "to be restored" guitar
for only 75 euro's on an auction. I stumbled finally on that video in
which Mason Williams explains the way it went around "Classical
Gas" and the guitar he used for that recording. That appeared to
be the same model as I'm playing here now.

As the double inlay on the head attests (among others) it is the
same grade model. Oscar Teller produces this 8P model up to
these days but I would suggest them to re-introduce the double
head inlay and have it named: The Mason Williams model. If one
wants to make a commercial move around Oscar Teller guitars
then it would be this one! They already made a commercial move
by selling the Oscar Teller guitars under the "Cordova" brand.
They figured a Spanish name for a nylon stringed guitar would
sell better.

The circle is round now for me! For that reason I recorded the
song again and I hope you like it. Played with a more classical
sound in mind, maybe a bit contrary to the original recording.
