Dr. Cheryl Cooky addresses her research findings – the shrinking coverage of women’s sports on television. Dr. Cooky takes us inside the numbers of television sports coverage, how media portray female athletes, and tells us why young women “can’t be what they can’t see."

Recognized by The Feminist Wire as a Feminist We Love, and as a recipient of the Title IX Distinguished Service Award, conferred by Purdue for her research on girls and women’s sport, Cooky has a strong commitment to the public translation of scholarship, leveraging her empirical research towards policy ends. She collaborates with several women’s sports advocacy organizations and has served on the Women’s Sports Foundation’s National Policy Advisory Board. She has appeared on National Public Radio, HuffPost Live, in Fortune Magazine, The Globe & Mail, The New York Times as well as other local, national and international news media outlets.
