This is the first in a two-part conversation bringing together Achates Live! and Achates Inspires, exploring what positive actions organisations can take to address today's complex financial landscape.

The first event - Challenging Times call for Creative Solutions - takes place on Tuesday 16 April at 1pm and focuses on the topic of Alternative Income Generation.

The sector is facing a financial crisis like never before and it is one that has been a long time coming with events of the last 5 years acting as the spark that lit the bonfire. Costs are going up, government funding (from both central and local pots) continues to decline dramatically, and giving to culture represents just 1% of UK giving. The last few years have shown that the current dominant model of funding is no longer fit for purpose and true resilience will require creativity within our business models. This session will explore the dynamic ways organisations are innovating their business models to face this complex landscape by engaging in alternate ways of generating income.

Many organisations in the sector have made great strides towards achieving a more balanced approach to earned and contributed income generation, looking creatively at their assets and resources to establish new income streams which speak to both organisational purpose and the audiences they serve.

In our April session, we will hear from leaders in the sector whose organisations have done just that; as we explore the process they went through to develop the idea, test the market and ultimately roll out the work.

We are delighted to be joined by:
Amy Vaughan, Executive Director & Deputy CEO of Battersea Arts Centre
Peggy Hughes, Chief Executive of National Centre for Writing

We will be on hand to chat via the comments function on YouTube for any questions or thoughts you may have at the time of broadcast.

A transcript can be requested via [email protected].

A week after its broadcast it will be available publicly on our Youtube and website.
