Poor officiating occurs in every sport. Some more than others. Some terrible referees in sports history include soccer or futbol’s Byron Moreno and baseball’s C.B. Bucknor. Basketball has had plenty of bad referees in its history, and bad officiating is easily by far the most complained about thing in the NBA. But not the way you would think. Usually, bad referee’s in sports miss tons of calls, but in the NBA, the referees seem to call way too much.
Here's some of the terrible calls just this season. [Jayson Tatum claps] The foul was 100% the correct call, but the referee also called a technical foul for Jayson Tatum CLAPPING, just clapping. Referees seem to get annoyed by Tatum’s little emotional expressions like here. [Jayson Tatum wave] If you look veeerrry closely, Tatum does a wave. And the referee ejected him for it. The star player on the team was ejected for waving. Which by no surprise means that the Celtics lost. The referee’s sensitive feelings shouldn’t dictate who wins. Obviously, Tatum is mad that he committed the foul, but noooo, to the referee, it was CLEARLY a vicious and malicious attack by Jayson toward him. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic both say that due to the different rules in the Euroleague, it's much harder to play in compared to the NBA, even though the NBA has more talent. Euroleague allows more physical play which is the reason why Luka admitted to liking the Euroleague more. Watching the passion and emotion on the basketball court is almost as interesting as the game. I want the players to determine the outcome of a game, not the referees. In like 10 years surely A.I has advanced enough that it can officiate games like 2k.
