Lucid Motors: What Lucid Just Did To Elon Musk And Tesla And Why It Changes EVERYTHING!

Formerly known as Atieva, Lucid Motors was founded in 2007 and is based in Newark, California near Silicon Valley. As Atieva, Lucid was originally focused on developing batteries and electric powertrains for other vehicle manufacturers. The company announced its intention to rebrand itself as Lucid Motors in October 2016. In addition, it announced it would produce an all electric luxury car.
Lucid Motors CEO and CTO, Peter Rawlinson is actually an ex Tesla employee. He was the person who scrapped the initial design of the Model S, and completely revamped it. Lucid is initially targeting the luxury market in a similar fashion to how Tesla did for its own secret Master Plan.

Lucid is starting with its Air Dream Edition, which starts at $169,000 and will work its way down to the basic Air, which starts at $80,000. The EV company's first own vehicle is the Lucid Air sedan, which was presented in September 202 and aims to set itself apart from Tesla, its closest competitor, with a combination of speed and range. Just recently, Lucid motors announced that the entire inventory of the luxury version was now fully reserved. Lucid Air promises to be a feature loaded car which promises unparalleled space and comfort.

Lucid Air has achieved its remarkable range whilst also reducing battery size through its in house technology, resulting in a breakthrough in overall vehicle level efficiency. Unlike some newer electric vehicle companies, Lucid plans to manufacture all of its vehicles in house, like Tesla does today.

Tesla is an inspiration to Lucid Motors in many ways, and they hope to compete with it. In a video, Lucid's CEO and CTO explains his inspiration behind the Lucid Air model plan to challenge the competition, and battery technology. With the support of Saudi Arabia, the company hopes not only to emulate Tesla's battery stretching ability, but also the stock market acceleration that has catapulted it to become one of the world's most valuable companies.

Even though Lucid is currently making pivot cars, its claim to fame is its battery tech work specifically for racetracks. It designs and manufactures the battery packs for all 24 cars in Formula E, an electric racing championship founded in 2014. Lucid's technology can be easily compared to Tesla's to get a better understanding of why it's grabbing headlines and awards lately. Lucid currently offers an electric vehicle with a range over 500 miles, 100 more than Tesla model S.

Both Lucid Motors and Tesla are targeting the luxury end of the electric car market. While Tesla's Model S has been in production for a long time already, the carmaker has now taken things to a whole new level with its model S Plaid. Lucid on the other hand is still working on its first production vehicle, the Lucid Air, which looks set to beat Tesla in certain areas, although Tesla might have some tricks up its sleeves.

To challenge Tesla's Ev dominance, Lucid will have to do a great deal more than its promising technology. From sourcing raw materials to producing cars that perform well in the real world over time and doing all that profitably. Lucid has a lot to prove. Yet its better technology could give it some edge.
