Say it ain't so Jan! This week, the successor of Dale Young announces his retirement! Jan van der Heide, an immigrant from Holland in 1985, came to the USA and studied at Cornell University. From there Jan worked construction for a bit then got a job as a vegetable breeder at Cornell University. Jan continued on until Dale Young retired in 1995; he applied for and landed that position as the Cornell Cooperative Extension agent. In 2005 he moved on to become the Northeast Sales Rep for Bejo Seeds Inc.; Jan has serviced this area for decades and now it's coming to a close. Jan has always been a wealth of knowledge for us farmers and there are big shoes to fill. Can Travis do it? Is that his name? Thank you, Jan, for all your years of service!
