A former Atlanta Police Department employee says she was fired in retaliation for her daughter's critique of how the department handled the 2022 shooting that left Artez Benton dead. Music executive Chaka Zulu was initially charged with murder. The shooting was ruled as self-defense, and all charges were dismissed.

Rhonda Frost was the Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Atlanta Police Department.

She says this video of her daughter Shanae Hall led to her being wrongfully terminated.

Rhonda Frost has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the City of Atlanta.

Her daughter Shanae Hall spoke with Roland about this insane wrongful termination case.

"No public employee should lose her job because her family member spoke out on a matter of public concern, and that's exactly what happened here. After Ms. Frost's daughter publicly spoke out against the treatment of Chaka Zulu by the Atlanta Police Department, the City of Atlanta and Atlanta Police Department forced Ms. Frost on administrative leave and spent several months trying to dig up dirt on her, despite her objectively stellar job performance record.

When they couldn't find any wrongdoing by Ms. Frost, they used the pretext of a reduction-in-force to eliminate her job position and rob her of any due process, violating the City's own rules and regulations in the process. The experience for Ms. Frost, who intended to retire as a public employee, has been traumatizing, frightening, surreal, and has caused her severe damages, both financially and emotionally.
