I have spent a significant amount of time researching the best Jeep bumpers for my vehicle, but I have procrastinated on making a decision. However, it has become evident that I cannot delay any longer. Ever since purchasing my Jeep, I have stuck with the stock OEM bumper. This choice was partially influenced by the fact that my Road Rash model came with the Freedom Edition package, which features a distinctive gunmetal grey color scheme for the trim, wheels, grill, and bumper. I had developed an attachment to this particular aesthetic and was hesitant to change it.
Over time, as I began to tackle more challenging trails and frequently found myself venturing deep into the woods alone, I realized the need for a means of self-recovery if I were to get stuck. Consequently, I installed a Badlands 12,000 lb winch by @harborfreight using a specially designed winch plate that could be directly mounted onto the OEM bumper. It served me well for several years.
However, as the trails became increasingly difficult and I started exploring with larger groups, I recognized a crucial missing component - quality recovery points on the front of my Jeep. Until that point, my only recovery option had been the stock tow hooks, which I didn't trust very much. I vividly remember one particular incident during an adventure with another Jeep where their brakes failed at the top of a hill. The only way we could safely get the Jeep down was by securing a tow strap to the front of my Jeep and attaching the other end to their D Hook on their bumper. Essentially, my Jeep had to act as a brake while they descended the hill.
It was evident that I needed robust recovery points on the front of my @Jeep and as part of my ambassadorship with GoRhino this season, they sent me one of their new Rockline Steel bumpers. This bumper is made from thick, high-quality steel, manufactured right here in North America, and is coated with a protective rust-resistant finish.
The installation process was incredibly easy, requiring no drilling. The bumper bolted directly onto my Jeep without any issues. I highly recommend the GoRhino stubby bumper, and I am already planning to match it with a rear bumper in the future.
