"I got started in drag boat racing through prior employer relationships, working with some guys who were already on drag racing teams. They needed some help going to Phoenix, Arizona as a matter of fact, was the first race that I went to. They needed a transport driver as well as helping out with the boat doing in between round maintenance, clutches, engine stuff. In the top fuel boats I was doing the blower maintenance again die checking and inspecting prop shafts, underwater stuff, fiberglass work, all kinds of things.

It started out as a pro-mod, it was running 1320 feet which is a quarter mile, at 170+ miles an hour and a 7 second bracket index. They had went top fuel hydro and the record that they’ve got now is 263 miles an hour 3.63 seconds and 1000ft.

You’ve got heat, you’ve got cold mornings, you’ve got rain, we can’t race these in the rain or the wind. Things like that. If we’re in a lake it’s one thing, we don’t have flows and currents but rivers that plays a big part in that.

Winning the world championship. That was four years ago with the pro-mods. Now they’ve got three championships running the top-fuel hydro after they stepped up a class but I kind of backed out of it a little bit.

My favorite part about being associated with that team? It’s the family atmosphere. You get up early in the morning, you work hard all day, have fun in the evenings, you’re traveling anywhere from South Carolina to California doing this and there’s a lot of time spent with the teams and it’s a fun, family atmosphere."
