Ingrid Torjesen and Adele Waters, journalists for The BMJ, reveal the shocking levels of sexual assault that happen on NHS properties, in their new investigation.

Freedom of information requests revealed that there are more than 35,000 cases of sexual abuse on NHS properties. The police have recorded 11,880 sexual crimes, including; 3084 cases of rape, 5164 cases of sexual assault, and 56 cases of gang rape.

There are also 493 cases of sexual offense against children, including 180 cases of rape, and 4 cases of gang rape.

Campaigners, medical colleges, and unions are calling for an inquiry, and proper reporting standards for these offences.
