Sal Robinson, our Lucy Ricciardi Assistant Curator of Literary and Historical Manuscripts, and Joe Baker, co-founder and Executive Director of the Lenape Center, discuss Nora Thompson Dean and her work to preserve Lenape culture. In our current exhibition “Nora Thompson Dean: Lenape Teacher and Herbalist,” the Morgan worked collaboratively with the Lenape Center to create an exhibition of letters, photographs, and printed materials, to shed light on different aspects of Nora Thompson Dean's life and teaching. It is complemented by an installation of plants important to the Lenape in the Morgan Garden, including corn, squash, and beans.
