Mark Kermode reviews Irrational Man. Philosophy professor Abe Lucas is in a deep funk, having lost all confidence in the purpose and meaning of philosophy, and finding no respite in the copious amount of drinking and womanising he distracts himself with. Amidst burgeoning relationships with fellow lecturer Rita and flirtatious, brilliant student Jill, Abe happens upon a plan that he thinks will give his life purpose.
