At the April 10, 2024 Board meeting Pasadena City College Board of Trustee Sandra Chen Lau tells the consultants presenting an overview of their update of the 2020 Facilities Master Plan which threatens to demolish the dance and Kineseology building that she advocates for supporting the arts at the college and a "wholistic education experience" and the "vibrancy" of arts and culture, and STEAM education, not just STEM sciences and math.

In the audience, Vice President Candace Jones who is the administrator in charge of the $565M bond that Pasadena area voters gave the college to fund the Facility Masters Plan, is seen shaking her head in disapproval.

Prior to this, during public comment, several dance and Kineseology professors and students had spoken in favor of protecting the programs and the building, which she also listened to and didn't seem to approve of.

In 2021 the college eliminated the graphic arts screen printing program. Related article: https://www.coloradoboulevard.net/pas...
