A very strong line of severe thunderstorms made their way east into New Jersey into the late/overnight hours on Saturday night and early Sunday morning. This was a very impressive and downright fierce storm. Most thunderstorms this month haven't really been too impressive or spectacular for that matter until this one struck tonight. This storm featured a massive amount of lightning, very strong gusty winds, heavy but quick rainfall, and some very loud thunder. In fact, this storm was so intense that the NWS sent out a tornado warning for Somerset, Middlesex, Morris, and Union counties as the storm had the potential to have rotation embedded within it. This was probably the best severe weather I've seen so far this year as most other previous storms we've had lately haven't been anything to write home about. A hook echo actually did show up on radar over Roselle Park, NJ in Union County, but it did not actually produce a tornado. This thunderstorm was later confirmed to be a supercell.
