In March 1978, Stevie recorded several demos of songs that she had written for the soundtrack for the RHIANNON movie in which she was to star as the mythical Welsh goddess. The RHIANNON soundtrack was supposed to be Stevie's first solo album. At the time, Stevie said that she had written 20 songs for the project.

However, very soon into the initial stages of the film's development, Stevie realized she greatly disliked acting, which killed further movement on the movie. She still wanted the songs to be released in some format one day. In May 1989, Stevie said that 11 of the RHIANNON songs had been fully recorded and mixed, and that she hoped to release them one day and maybe tour with them.

There are five circulating demos of "Forsaken Love" from these RHIANNON sessions of March 1978. This version is my favorite, even though Stevie slightly flubs the beginning. This recording is from one of the Master Reels for the RHIANNON Film Project and is dated 03/28/1978. This take and one other appeared on the 1988 bootleg album, Uncirculated Rumours, where it is listed as "Mistaken Love."

Although there is one listing for "Mistaken Love" in a list of 45 demos submitted for copyright in 1986, many of the titles in that list are working titles for songs, like "Thunder" for "Dreams" and "For John" for "Edge Of Seventeen." Therefore, I am using the 1978 copyrighted title of "Forsaken Love" here. (However, the actual first copyright used the name "Frustrated Love" but then immediately after, Stevie copyrighted it as "Forsaken Love" several times.)
