The Rakaposhi mountain is a 7,788 m high mountain in the Karakoram mountain range located in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The name Rakaposhi, meaning “snow-covered” came from one the fact that you can see the exceptional rise of its snow-covered peaks all the way from the Karakoram Highway route that goes through Nagar Valley.
Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 7 h 57 min to complete. Trekkers can hike to base camp from the village of Minapin in Nagar Valley. This trail is great for backpacking, camping, and hiking, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. Rakaposhi Base Camp at 3500m is located at the base of Rakaposhi peak, alongside Minapin glacier.
