I review, breakdown and explain Shogun episode 9 on FX. I discuss the story which is set in 1600 in Japan as John Blackthorne arrived there. I react to Mariko’s death, if it was part of Toranaga’s plan, what it means for the future of Osaka and Japan, Yabushige’s betrayal as well as Ishido’s fate. I compare the story to the real events with Ieyasu Tokugawa and William Adams. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 10, the finale.
