The medieval siege was an often arduous affair and occasionally brutal affair, should the siege end in a storm and sack of the fortification. On the surface, our sources may present a style of conflict that is smattered with arbitrary violence and characterised by deception. However, this is not the case. Aside from the authors of the sources we have available to us, who often have an agenda and aim to present the attackers or defenders in a negative light, we can see that there was indeed a procedure to siege warfare.

This mini-documentary offers a brief overview of the protocol involved in medieval siege warfare - I hope to go into these aspects in more detail in a future video.
