Today’s fishing electronics require more battery power and draw than earlier days of 5” electronics at the bow and console. With multiple units, the original wiring installed in many boats is well below what’s necessary to obtain peak performance from your boat and units which may now feature side imaging, down imaging, 2D sonar, Mega 360, forward facing sonar, and whatever direction electronics will take in the future. Chances are also good that the current wiring has corrosion issues as well as possible wiring damage over years of rattling around, critter damage, and repair jobs. Today’s video will show you how I rigged my Triton TR21 in Part 1 to show you how I powered up 4 Humminbird Helix 12 units with the latest in fishing technology available today. In Part 2 to be released later, I will feature the wiring and battery upgrades in my new to me 2014 Ranger Z520C. I recently sold my 2000 Triton. Prior to selling it I had done some videos and photos of the wiring and battery set up in my Triton. I don’t claim to be an expert in the electrical field but I have certainly learned a lot along the way in how to properly rig wires and batteries to allow you to get the most out of today’s units whether they be Humminbird, Garmin, Lowrance, or whatever brand you choose. What I learned rigging my Triton certainly gave me definite ideas about how I wanted to rig my Ranger. Hopefully you will benefit from and enjoy the helpful hints provided in Part 1 and I am certainly excited in sharing Part 2 soon to show you what I think is a way better battery and wiring set up in the Ranger.
