Playing around with a Drake SPR-4 Receiver I picked up recently. This was Drake's first attempt at a serious solid state communications receiver. They first appeared around 1969 and were a receiver that every aspiring Ham wanted in the 1970s and you had to work hard to earn the money to afford one. The circuitry and design of this radio is very complicated and an engineering achievement of it's time. For an all solid state radio of this era, it feels and performs pretty much exactly the same as the all tube Drake Radios. This is a small sample of what it can do.
