The fight between Yamamoto vs Yhwach was such a good one. Here is my video essay deep diving into this fight in Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War. We finally get to see Yamamoto Genryusai’s Bankai, and I will break down the four stages of Zanka no Tachi for you. It’s actually named after the four cardinal directions, North, East, South, and West. Zanka no Tachi stands for Longsword of the Remnant Flame.

In Bleach TYBW episodes 6 and 7, we get to see this fateful encounter between the Leader of the Gotei 13, and head of Division One, Yamamoto Shigekuni (later changed to Genryusai), and the King of the Quincys, Yhwach. Don’t worry, we’ll get to his name. We even see a little bit of Yhwach vs Ichigo as well, even thought it’s very brief.

NOTE ON PRONUNCIATION:
Yhwach’s name is pronounced like Yuha Bach, or Juha Bach. The only thing is that this is the Japanese pronunciation of this name. In German, the language his character draws inspiration from, the letter W is pronounced with a V. However, in Japan, they translate this to a B sound. In English, this name will most likely be pronounced Juha Vach, or Yuha Vach. Just thought that was kind of interesting.
