Travis picking was invented by Merle Travis and while there are some variations to this pattern, I'm going to show you how my guitar teacher taught me how to play the Travis Picking pattern on guitar many years ago.

Travis picking is one of the most versatile fingerpicking patterns you can learn to play on the guitar. It can be used on songs like Dust in the Wind, Landslide, Blackbird and so many more great classics. It's also a great way to folk up a guitar.
