Hello my lovelies! A very very special vlog today - the moment we saw wild killer whales John Coe and Aquarius swim past Neist Point on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
John Coe and Aquarius are the last two surviving members of the West Coast Community of orca which is now functionally extinct. The last recorded female washed ashore in 2016. Both males are far older than the average life expectancy for a male killer whale so being able to see them was extra special. John Coe has a distinctive notch out of the bottom of his dorsal fin hence why we were able to ID them so quickly.
If you are off the coast of Scotland and spot marine animals then please download the HWDT (Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust) app to put in your sightings to their whale tracker!
