In this video, DIYNate shows his two approaches for fully factory reseting the Amazon Fire TV Stick to get past a problematic and frustrating 'Home is Currently Unavailable' message that was not dealing with his network or other basic solves. These tips are meant to only be used after trying other steps to rebooting to get past the error message, unless you are simply trying to clear the Firestick and start from scratch. These tips were put together by searching on the internet and from performing the operation and DIYNate is by no means an expert on this particular product line. Additionally, the make and model of the Amazon Fire TV Stick and the latest application / software may cause these steps to not work for your particular device (filmed in summer of 2022 for reference).

Key steps in the the factory reset process include:
• Checking for network connectivity to ensure the issue is related to the device and not your home network
• Attempting a normal reset (non-factory) by pressing and holding the select + home button until a normal reboot occurs
• Unplugging the Fire Stick from the power source for at least 20-30 seconds before reconnecting
• Attempting other on-screen fixes / troubleshooting before resorting to a full factory reset

If the above is unsuccessful (there are likely many other ways to troubleshoot and fix depending on the issue or error) and a factory reset is desired, this can be done with just the remote even if you are unable to access the My Fire TV menu using the below step.
• Press and hold the Back button (half circle with arrow) and the right directional selection on the circular navigation control at the same time. Note: this did seem to be a bit temperamental, and there may be better ways / sequences to get it to 'take' on the first try, but by pressing and holding both buttons together the cursor should stay in position and once waiting 10-15 seconds, it will present a message asking to confirm factory reset with a countdown. If you do not want the factory reset to occur, you should quick cancel before the timer counts down. Note, a factory reset may cause loss of information and apps that will need to be reinstalled in the future. You may be able to find these associated with your profile when you log back in after factory reset for easier reprogramming.
• The other method shown in this video involves navigating to Settings - My Fire TV - Reset to Factory Defaults, however, some errors like Home Screen is Currently Unavailable may prevent access to this option, so the remote only reset process may be needed. As with all of DIYNate's how-to / pointer videos, DIYNate assumes no liability and this is simply meant to be sharing of an experience (data loss, system issues, etc. may present problems and outcomes different from what was experienced by DIYNate).
• Finally, if issues persist, Amazon does include a notation in their error message indicating to contact their customer service for assistance. They may work to resolve your issue, offer assistance in replacing, or have other methods of troubleshooting. In DIYNate's experience, contacting Amazon from their shopping page or searching for Amazon chat and then navigating to find your previously purchased Fire TV device reduces the amount of time spent getting to assistance and resolution with the Amazon team.
