This is an effortless and cheap way to age wood to a natural grey colour. With some wood species, you can use the wool + vinegar trick, but it doesn't produce a nice result with Finnish pine and spruce. I have tested it several times.

I treated 350 meters of 15 cm wide boards with just about 5€ worth of iron sulfate.
