Destiny 2's Lore and Story tells us a lot about how Rasputin was created and it also demonstrates to us that there was a lot of room for him to fall into the typical sci-fi trope of being an evil AI. But unlike Skynet, Durandal, Hal 9000 or Shodan, Rasputin has been guided away from being destructive, evil or openly aggressive to humanity. The reason why is thanks to Ana Bray, who helped him find, for lack of a better word... his soul.
