I Review this Ford F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost Engine and test Fuel Economy (mpg) against the long standing 5.0L Coyote V8 and see if the Ecoboost engine is truly more efficient. I also review features on this 3.5L Ecoboost engine like Cam Phasers and Turbo's that will help with getting better fuel economy.

I figured once we drove the 5L in these f150's for fuel economy I had to bring the 3.5L ecoboost into the mix and compare these two engines in the f150 plateform. I feel like these are both the flagship engines in the f150's and they are usually neck and neck in performance and reliability so I wanted to test the ecoboost in the real world when it comes to fuel economy.

the Ecoboost on paper should be more efficient but as you'll see the 5L coyote is actually a very efficient engine despite being a 5L V8.

I discuss the mechanical advantages of having a smaller displacement in the 3.5L Ecoboost, as well as the advantages of having cam phasers to advance engine timing to give a more fuel efficient experience.

I also talk about the driveline, 10 speed transmission and how that can also help with mpg and fuel economy. lastly I discuss the turbos and how they are not actually that fuel efficient because when they are pushing air into the engine is needs to be met with extra fuel resulting in poor fuel economy.

All and all the ecoboost was a great driving engine but was not as fuel efficient as the 5L coyote v8 in the f150 trucks on the highway at least.
