First episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from May 25, 1992. Following the departure of Johnny Carson, Jay's first show was broadcast live and featured a classic monologue, a comedy skit, introduction of Branford Marsalis as band leader, first guest Billy Crystal, a performance from pop/r&b star Shanice, and a fun discussion of economics with CBS correspondent Robert Krulwich. Shanice performed her hit "I Love Your Smile" as well as a cover of Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You." Recorded from WVTM 13 in Birmingham, Alabama. Presented with excellent hi-fi sound, and includes commercials for maximum 1990's nostalgia.

Technical: Recorded via average cable signal on a RCA VR671HF hi-fi VHS VCR using a Maxell XL-HIFI 120 tape at LP (4 hour) speed. Luminance and chroma corrections were applied, then upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve some image quality and motion.
