It is generally considered that bonding strain gauges before attaching leadwires is technically superior, but in some instances pre-attached leadwires are essential. By learning this technique, customised leadwires can be added quickly and easily. This applies in situations where gauges must be installed but access with a soldering iron is not possible or allowed, such as restricted spaces, down-hole, on-site (to minimise time at site), heat sensitive materials or in explosion risk environments.

This short video shows the process from start to finish in real time. Our most common and class-leading CEA-series Advanced Sensors strain gauge and 330-DFV leadwire is demonstrated here, but the technique can be used across the majority of our extensive product range.
