Wasted Summer

Some fourth of July,
Nothing in those spacious skies,
But fireflies,

Spring has sprung and gone,
Fall will be here before too long,
Wish I could say it flew by,

But this whole damn year,
Has been so damn weird,
Once in a life time,

And it occurs to me,
It just so happens to be,
The first one of your life,
And now I...

Have to wonder,
If this wasted summer,
Can help us find another kind,
Of summer... Time,

I lost track of days,
The minutes got misplaced,
Like pocket change,

You began to crawl,
Now you stand no hands at all,
Already pulling away,

And this whole damn year,
Made it so damn clear,
I was playing a fools game,

Too many miles from home,
Trading milestones,
for the wrong side of the stage,
But those days...

They were numbered,
and this wasted summer,
It helped me find another kind,
Of summer... Time,

Oh we got each other,
And this wasted summer,
To help us find another kind,
Of summer... Time.

I debuted this song and video on the last day of summer 2020. The day after my daughters first birthday. It was seeing the world reflected her eyes that reminded me there is beauty and awe in every day... All we have to do is see it.
