This video presents you with one of those crispy puzzles that demand good calculation skills to solve. We train the three pillars of chess calculation: 1) the orientation phase 2) candidate move generation and 3) actively searching for the best resources for the opponent. Solving the puzzle involves combining these skills effectively.
If you couldn't solve it, reflect on what went wrong: Was it wishful thinking and missing the opponent's resources? Was it impulsivity, and the urge to play the first move that came to your mind? Was it missing an important detail in the orientation phase? We improve by learning from our mistakes, and such rich positions offer great insights for further improvement.
