If you’re like most people you'll meet with a few different companies before deciding what to do about your home's Foundation problems. And we think that’s a great idea. So here are a few things to think about during that process.
First of all, make sure you understand what repairs the company is recommending and why. There is more than one way to repair foundations and they don't all work the same way. In fact, they don’t all work! So, understand the different repair methods and you'll choose wisely.
Secondly, Get the numbers! Any foundation contractor who knows what they're doing will measure your home's floor elevation to see if and where it's moving. They should give you a copy of these elevations as part of their proposal.
This is a big one. If you have a Pier and Beam Foundation, make sure they get in the crawl space! Yes, it can be tight and unpleasant under there but if they don't spend time under your home then there's no way they know what might need to be done. You don't want to get any surprises once the work begins.
Don't go with the cheapest company just because they're the cheapest. Consider a legitimate company will have expenses like insurance and pay skilled workers a good wage. Not all companies do these things.
Finally, Read The Reviews. See how many and how old the reviews are. And check the references!
All these things should point to a company and people you can trust with your home.
