Let's head right onto the Coca-Cola Logo History!
You see this iconic logo at social gatherings and in ads and movies.
or even a quick trip to the convenience store.
It is practically everywhere.
This alluring script wordmark has been around since 1886.
What's impressive about this logo is that it has changed minimally over the years.
It just goes to show how timeless the logo is!
But wait. There's another interesting fact about this design.

[WHO DESIGNED IT? SECTION]
It was a DIY logo created by Frank Mason Robinson.
He was the bookkeeper for Dr. Pemberton, the founder of Coca Cola.
This lettering style is called the Spencerian script,
It was a popular handwriting style at that time.
Interestingly, Robinson is also the one who came up with the Coca Cola name.
One could say that he's a man of many talents.

[START OF LOGO EVOLUTION]
Now that we know who designed the logo,
We're ready to learn about its history.
Let's get started
In 1886 the brand's visual identity was symbolized with serif typography.
It was straightforward and free of other decorative elements.
This made it very easy to read in print.
The 1886 version was the face of the brand for a year,
It eventually got replaced with the Coca-Cola logo version,
Similar to the design that we see today.
It’s red because it signifies that the drink is non-alcoholic.
It was important for the brand to show back then
Because the drink was packaged similarly to alcohol.
And they didn't want to be taxed mistakenly.
The color red also conveys dominance and passion
which are two traits that fit the brand perfectly.
The color is also said to encourage appetite among the audience.
Cool, right?
The brand decided to redesign the logo again in 1890.
It gave the script lettering a break
And used a sans serif typography instead.
This logo has a festive and playful look.
However, the brand only used this design for a single year.
After that, the beverage company reverted to its 1887 logo version.
Coca-Cola will keep this version until 1941.
The Coca-Cola logo became more polished.
This effort was followed by the arciform.
or the fish-tail logo version in 1958.
It has a ribbon-like silhouette that frames the wordmark nicely.
In 1969, the logo shape changed, but the wordmark remained the same.
Fast forward to 2003, the Coca-Cola logo brandished more colors and detail.
The creative move to add the color yellow made the logo more appetite-inducing.
The billion-dollar brand is a true testament to the saying that you shouldn't fix what ain't broke.
