Powerdirector How to shorten clips.
There are 2 ways to make a clip shorter in Powerdirector.

They are trimming & Splitting clips.

Lets start with trimming.

Trimming is the most commonly used method of making a video clip shorter.

It simply means to take off the front and the back of your clip.

In Powerrdirector editor tap on a clip to highlight it.

once the clip is highlighted a little handle bars will appear at start and end.

You can now slide these to TRIM the clip to its best part.

There is not much more to it.

How do we decide how long a clip should be?

More often than not the music has something to do with it.

Music sets a mood.

Happy upbeat music tends to allow for shorter clips.

Sad slow music lends itself to longer clips.

More about beat editing, in another tutorial.
How to Split a video in splice

Split means to, as the name suggests, split the clip at a point breaking it into two.

The split will happen at the point of the video playhead.

What’s a video playhead?

This line at which the video is now being seen in the preview window.

Once a clip is highlighted, you will see this option for a submenu to edit the clip. Select it and you will see a range of options. The Split tool is the first in the menu.

Hit it.

Wherever the playhead was has now divided the clip at this point.

Trim is a great way to get a batter view and control the exact moment you want to stop the clip.

Trimming can get a little messy, but split is exactly on the mark.

A reason for using split instead of Trim is for rather long clips..

If you have a really long clip that needs to be trimmed down to only a part, but you also need another part of the same clip, then you would first split the clip twice at each part.

So First

Split the clip at start and at end.

Then… repeat this

Delete the unwanted sections. And Trim the remaining clips.

Making the Split tool easier to find.

As i mentioned earlier there is a double sep required to get o the split tool, you can if you wish choose to make this faster.

In your home menu go all the way to the bottom, select the settings button.

Toggle the option called
Open the tool menu when selecting an object in the timeline. On

If we go back to our project and now tap on a clip, the submenu will show right away giving you direct access to the split function.
